Arcadia Center, Milan

Arcadia Center is Arcadia Center is the name of the headquarters of Volkswagen Leasing GmbH and Volkswagen Bank GmbH built in Milan's Gallarates district.

It is an innovative urban regeneration project and restyling of two existing and adjacent 1970s bodies of the former Alfa building, with the elimination of additional and non-structural elements, to create a new building with innovative technological content and interior comfort in the headquarters of Volkswagen Leasing and Volkswagen Bank in Milan.

The intervention is spread over a total area of 23,000 square meters was developed in teams with Bim technology in order to be constantly updated on any verifications by the client.

Specifically, the south body overlooks a green area with a wide view towards the surrounding landscape and the new city skyline, which the renovation aimed to enhance.

The project maintained the existing load-bearing structure, demolishing the volume on the roof (including the systems left exposed) and the guardhouse, and completely rethought the facades with the aim of improving energy performance and conferring maximum comfort in the work spaces.

Arcadia Center consists of two basement floors used for warehouses, technical rooms and garages, a mezzanine floor with the reception, common areas, canteen, storage rooms and integrated offices, and five above-ground floors for offices.

The building has been awarded the LEED GOLD certificate for high architectural, energy and environmental quality.

Among the different types of products we supplied for this site, the nearly 1,200 DLSHI series high-induction linear diffusers stand out in particular.

Designed for ceiling air diffusion, which can be installed either in plasterboard false ceilings, in metal panels or resting on bandrasters, they consist of a painted metal panel on which plastic-molded linear baffles are arranged.

The push-push type opening system allows them to be easily opened for maintenance and cleaning of the rear positioned filter.

The product is extremely versatile and allows “ad hoc” sizing by providing an appropriate number of rows of baffles according to the design flow rates.

The same applies to the supply plenum, to which an appropriate number of connections can be matched for connection to the air conditioning system.

The high induction ratio generated by the velocity of the air injected through the relevant baffles makes it possible to achieve excellent comfort in the room, significantly reducing vertical stratification and ensuring terminal residual velocity values in the occupied zone below standard values.

The baffles are generally configured at the factory according to the optimal direction (one-way or two-way) provided for the target room. However, it is possible to change the discharge directions by pulling out and reinserting the baffles.

The sizing of each diffuser was supported by our technical staff and by means of dedicated fluid dynamic analyses performed with CFD software. The name of the headquarters of Volkswagen Leasing GmbH and Volkswagen Bank GmbH built in Milan in the Gallaratese district.
